Normally, I don't vent work stuff on social media, but every so often it is inevitable.
Long story short:
I am the first National Security Advisor of El Salvador, I had to start everything from scratch. In early 2020 we didn't have the budget to start anything, so we did a GoFundMe.
Our GoFundMe page got $186,000 until it was closed down because of "violations of their ToS", so every penny was returned to every donor. So we tried to collect some money with a PayPal account, and the same thing happened. We managed to get some donations through Western Union and direct bank deposits... So with around $50,000 we were able to buy some equipment and software that was needed. Every year, the same story, but without the crowdfunding.
From my salary, I have been trying to keep afloat our department, sadly I can no longer keep on doing it, I am in debt, and not because I have bought stuff for myself, but to keep things going for my department.
This year, I sent as always what is needed to operate, yet we've been ignored once again (4 years in a row).
Do you think it is OK, to do a Geyser Fund Crowdfund for this occasion?
Please advise...
Thank you!
