The only 3-D movie I ever saw that I felt it was additive was Coraline.
Something about that format added so much depth to the stop-motion animation, vs the gimmic level stuff of 'thing/hand lunges at you'.
I got the blu-ray version of it that came with 3-D glasses, though I'm not sure they worked as well as the theater glasses. It's been a long time.
Might have to re-watch it with those and see.
