Me: I'd love to help, but due to [horrific circumstance] I cannot.
Them: Oh, okay, what if we do this workaround so you can work for me for free anyway?
If someone shares their hardship or trauma, for the love of all that's holy, acknowledge it with compassion, don't focus on extracting value for yourself. Yeesh. 1/2
