Sure, they've fought a highly respectable defensive retreat, at great cost to the Germans and Italians, but how can they ever hope to change this state of affairs?
They should offer up considerably more land, in exchange for peace. After all, Herr Hitler is a reasonable man. He wouldn't try to take advantage of a peace treaty. Again.
