I went further, I dumped Microsoft and switched to Linux Mint and Open Source software (and I pay, voluntarily).
I thought it would be hard, but I don't miss it at all. My wife still has Windows 10, which reminds me how awful M$ really has become.
You can dual boot Linux & Windows to start with, to help with the withdrawal symptoms.
