If anyone's interested in an Australian's opinion, I'm delighted that a woman of colour has been selected as the candidate to fill the spot Biden has vacated. What I mean is that her excellence has been acknowledged. It's still very easy to argue that a woman, and a person of colour, would not be accepted, or popular, or credible, or whatever. But these prejudices have not swayed the decision that she is the best qualified to stand.
