Every society organizes itself with a government to make the rules & make sure everything gets done. This govt can just do everything itself or can delegate those functions.
Corporations are government "contracting out" some of those functions. The pay the corporations get for that is profits. The contract is the rules and limits.
The POINT is everything is supposed to be for the public good. Why ELSE would govt allow corporations?
