I used to walk a mile to work every day before my knees were this screwed up so I saw my neighbors and neighborhood every day.
There's this half block of open space along the way that used to be no-tell motels that got scrubbed by the city and the lot became a parking lot for a while. At one point I noticed a plastic junction box, about three feet tall that had acquired a single, taped on piece of paper. That piece of 8/11 paper was THE ONLY official notice of a zoning hearing being held THAT DAY AT NOON (Tuesday as I remember it) in a suburb 15 miles west in a lawyers office.
I had a commitment to a student that day or I would have driven over there.
That scam pisses me off every time I see it because you have to be a sociopath to shit on your neighbors like that. I have no idea what became of the zoning change but the lot's still empty a couple of years later!
