I agree with all of this. Great points. What most call AI has uses, but our application of the tech seems quite misguided. And, from your other comments, we generally agree on what AI is. What you might not be aware of, though, is that there are different kinds of AI. One kind (the Barry Smith kind), builds ontologies that can be queried to infer things. It requires more humans to create, vs. just pointing neural nets at existing data streams, so the suits don't like it as much.
