I guess a handful of people on Mastodon might understand that there is a satisfaction to be found in taking old, abused tools and cleaning and sharpening them until they are actually useful again. I didn't really have the right stuff to make it as sharp as I'd like, but it is able to split and chip wood sufficiently (mostly just needed for an emergency stove I hope I'll never have to use anyway.)

I can't emphasize enough how big of a change it was really. This thing was literally brown. There wasn't a single millimeter of non-rusted metal. Even a bit of the coating has rust... The person who originally had it literally left it outside for year, getting rained on...

I love that there is probably someone somewhere on Mastodon who might like this.
