But yes, absolutely do not blindly join up with Marxist, Leninist, Trotskyist, Stalinist or Maoist groups just because they're "doing something". That's a recipe for wasting time giving money to a political cult and recruiting for it, redirecting your energies to fundraising for grifters. Again the chief example here is PSL, but they aren't alone.

These authoritarian groups also do have issues with red-brown crossover to watch for. One high profile example is Jackson Hinkle and the "American Communist Party". Falling for an authoritarian left-wing group is bad enough, but falling for a right-wing group because they have a hammer and sickle and reactionary "America bad" politics? Even worse.

These predators are out here to prey on new recruits they'll use up and spit out in ~18 months. People new to the left need to be warned about them.
