Found the problem in my well pump, solved the immediate problem, and took steps to hopefully prevent it from happening again in the future. I'll be ordering a spare pump soon so that the current pump will outlive my grandchildren.
Tomorrow I'll be putting it back down the well and starting the sensitization procedure.
