OpenAI has published a mass censorship and surveillance manifesto, proposing a new compliance-based infrastructure that would require all GPUs, including the ones running on your own laptops, to be authorized for training AI models, and to produce digital signatures when producing model weights that would map back to a central db of government-approved chips. This is a beyond terrible idea. When they are telling us exactly who they are, we should listen.
