legitimate question: we have a need for encrypted group messaging, with a group that’s expressing that signal is too limiting and they want something more like discord/slack

what do we do? we’re aware of a number of encrypted messaging alternative (briar, simplex, wire, to name a few) but we’d really appreciate actual experiences from people who have used these alternatives, and what the relative benefits/drawbacks are
