Don't know about the polycarbonate.
OneShot will work better on hair, it's 96% sulphuric acid with some inhibitors. Plumbers' merchants should stock it or an equivalent. "Rules" mean diy places and hardware stores normally don't stock it. It does require more delicate handling than caustic but both are dangerous enough. Obviously, for anyone else reading this, don't use OneShot until you've flushed through enough water to get rid of any remaining caustic. 😱
