🌲Fæġer Mæġden🌲 (npub1g0u…3vfw) It's another empty evaluative term, of the sort this society loves producing. I've seen it thrown at good writing as well as bad; when you press ppl who cry "purple prose" as to what, specifically, is wrong with the writing, they can't tell you. It's the human, verbal equivalent of a hound baying at shadows in the night. It saves them the effort of having to actually describe what faults they find in the prose. Generally they are the sort of ppl who dislike any writing more ornamented than the kind you'd find in a textbook. Part of that is just ppl being comfortable with what they're familiar with; bland, lifeless writing is everywhere these days. Sterile, artificial prose, for sterile, artificial people, I guess.
