My conclusion about humans in general is that they are mostly pretty alike. The differences are way smaller than the outcomes of their different acctions suggest. Most mass murderers are normal, nice and friendly people whom you'd never expext to once have personally executed dozens of innocent people. And at the same time, most of those nice and friendly people would execute you if just ordered to do so by an authority. The line between civilization and horror is thin, and it is not a line between people, but one within them.
