I finished this 16-bit-style RPG called Ara Fell. It was surprisingly good.

While this game came out in 2016, with the remaster I played coming out in 2020, there was an old, unfinished title with a longer name dating as back as 2009. I had trouble finding information about it ever existing anywhere other than random posts in RPG-related forums.

Anyway, it's a turn-based RPG set in a world of humans living on floating islands above an abyss. Elves existed before, but turned themselves to stone to prevent vampires from eating them in a plan so retarded it almost makes you think this game was made by a Japanese person.

Your character, a 16 year old redhead, :doge_sex: is accompanying her friend into elven ruins, looking for an artifact on behalf of an employer. At first I noticed too much sass from the girl and braced myself for an entire game as a girlboss character. However, in the intro, she soon gets separated from the guy, gets lost in underground caverns and cries herself to sleep on the dirt, unable to do anything. Only to be rescued by her father, the village elder and some dwarves (there's dwarves) he hired to find his daughter. She awakens in her house, getting scolded for being irresponsible. So far, so good.

But wait, she's now fighting with her father for not letting her be an adventurer. The father is going to be an antagonist and she'll date Bumbub the Orc to teach her father a lesson... But no. It was just a family argument and it gets resolved. The search for poz continues. :pepe_sherlock:

As you can see, one of the first quests is saving the town from a Haitian invasion:
