Dave Lane 🇳🇿 (npub19h0…k428) Designers tend to be pro-IP, and I can't say I blame them, but I'm not one of them, and I'm strongly allergic to #DRM.
Class reductionism is crass, but class denialism is also exclusionary. Lack of accessibility to computing due to nontechnical background is a legitimate concern, but so is lack of accessibility due to lack of $. I find #ffmpeg to have a brutal learning curve, but all the GUI-type video editors I've tried absolutely slow my garage sale rigs to a crawl. Likewise with the supposedly user-friendly high-graphic websites such as Tumblr (which is painfully slow on tethered prepaid phone, even before the throttling kicks in), which not surprisingly has (had?) a reputation for being popular with the artsy crowd.
CLI will never die, because it's low-tech (read cheap) and fast.
