I don’t think the armchair firefighting crowd has ever:
1. Been anywhere close to a wind-driven fire.
2. Lived in (not kinda near — IN) dry hill country.
3. Been anywhere near a structure fire response.
Fire moves so terrifyingly fast. The sunlight fades, the air is hot and choking, your truck’s windshield is full of ash. Your animals panic. Your electricity dies, so your well pump fails. The road gets cut off. Powerlines fall. It happens in minutes.
