I was wondering for a long time: why is it important for a messenger to have PFS? I’ve read the post about KCI, but it seems like it wouldn’t apply if they didn’t screw up their message signing (because identity would be validated via Ed25519 anyway)?

it’s hard to imagine a scenario where my private key would be compromised, but my message history wouldn’t. are there any posts / papers / etc about possible attacks on messengers with no PFS (but proper message signing)?
