Soil for Brains
Some species of mycorrhizal fungi can conduct spikes of electrical activity along their hyphae. These spikes can be caused by stimuli and also stimulate other hyphae in the network.
Plants are also known to use electrical activity to communicate between different parts of themselves.
What is completely unknown (as of now) is whether or not plants and their fungal partners communicate via electrical impulses. If the answer turns out to be 'Yes' then the entirety of a forest could very well be a supercomputer in potential if not already (in some weird, maybe mystical way).
