You're discussing this as a frog in the pot looking for proof that the water is getting hotter.
You don't see it or feel it because you're saturated it in and are perhaps looking for soviet style economic model, which would be incorrect. Communism is a worldview. Not just an economic model. It is a materialistic and atheist worldview with its own dogmas. It is all encompassing but can be discerned by those that place the state over the individual.
Before the communist (or leftists, of you prefer) are able to achieve their utopian model, they have to first destroy what is. They do so through division. Marx initially sought class warfare between the working class and the bourgeoise. That worked on some areas.
Since the early 1920's, the communists in the United States recognized that race would be the best social driver for change and revolution.
The entire post-modern movement is Marxist at its core. We have sitting senators with portraits of Mao in thier homes. Soviet style art work and messaging are so common in the Democrat campaigns that we don't even recognize it anymore. It started with Obama, but is most pronounced with AOC. We have extremely vocal democratic socialist movement in the Democrat party. In fact, any time you hear "Our democracy", you can be sure, that they are talking about the central planners vision of the global order. It's not just the US. It's globally coordinated and connected.
