If it isn’t an international thing, it could be a bit of a flex/reminder that this feature isn’t available out of the box on any major Android devices.
Anecdotally, FaceID has also worked dramatically better for me and my spouse after 15.4. No more trying to turn my neck 90 degrees if I’m on my side in bed or on the couch.
