Two stories about capitalist interactions today, one bad and one good.
Story 1: I ordered something from backcountry.com. I had good experiences with them a long time ago, found some bike shoes I wanted for a good price, and ordered. Had to dig through old passwords and emails to reactivate my account, but no problem. After many days I was wondering where my effing order was.
Well.
I didn't change my address since the last time I used that account (approx. 2012). So it was being delivered over and over to the wrong place in the wrong entire state.
Got online, huge sigh, girded my loins, and clicked the "chat with a rep" button, hoping this wouldn't be AI or party-line bullshit.
It wasn't. In 8 minutes the rep had redirected my order, and even gave me a one-time pass (it was totally my fault) on sending it to the wrong address; no restocking fee, no delivery charge, nothing.
