So, the weeklong camping trip in Death Valley was a success, but it turned into an unexpected adventure. I rented an electric vehicle to get there, a risky choice considering there are only two functioning charging stations.
The number of charging stations became a non-issue when the entire area lost power for almost four days around Christmas. Having to strictly ration mileage was unplanned but ultimately enjoyable. I had the chance to explore the area around Furnace Creek, mostly devoid of other tourists. luna (npub1fg0…7zxs) and I got to hike for miles down closed roads without encountering another soul. Very enjoyable experience.
