On the lightning network, all transactions occur within channels, and all transactions within a channel must be confirmed by both parties on that channel. Ultimately both sides are motivated by self interest to maintain their transactions accurately, and not allow the other party to post anything inaccurate, as it would result in a loss of money for them.
