But there's much more nuance to it. Soft and hard power was used to dissuade any adventures (read it - a self coup / military coup) from the incumbent. In this aspect Lula was the preferred - aligned with global powers (WEF, UN, IPCC, and so on).
So in the current face of mainstream powers, he's the preferred.
But to it's core, he founded a party that opposed the Military Dictatorship installed by the CIA in 60s. A in-paper communist party, and opposed to the "US Empire"
So you could say he opposes US interests by doing what, at face value, opposes US power. But if you read one layer down, he perfmors according to the global interests of weakening the US and empowering China.
And on the "installed" part of it, I also disagree. Preferred, yes.
