Here's the thing. Wages in Japan have always been shit. But, with the exchange rate as borked as it is now, a sandwich technician at Subway in the USA earns more than a lawyer or accountant earns in Japan. It's a wonderful glorious place to visit as a tourist (and you should, it's never been cheaper!), it's no place to make a career.
