So painful. Weird thing is that I'm old enough that I was initially exposed to the lengthy papers which we thought were marvels. Following a Science/Nature paper we would wait for the detailed follow up paper going through tons of conditions. We we thought that was really important and definitely the most interesting.
This was 1990-95 when I did my PhD. I don't think we can go back, unfortunately. But perhaps some of us can encourage more careful work.
I think it's important to celebrate the really good work that is not so flashy. But that's probably wishful thinking. I'm just old! 😅
