I actually think that one of the reasons why Bazzite/Aurora takes a lot less space than NixOS for me, despite using more wasteful ways to install packages, is that it installs on btrfs by default, which has de-duplication mechanisms built in, unlike my install of NixOS that used ext4.
The other reason is probably the fact that I didn't install a lot of games here
