If mutt has ever been surpassed for UNIX TUI/CLI MUAs, I have missed out on whatever is better.
IMHO, elm was sort of the apogee of when TUI MUAs were awesome, but pine was awfully useful for different reasons (and thanks for pico! And more confusingly subsequently also nano in reaction) but unfortunately whenever people started shunting way too much HTML into SMTP, elm couldn't seem to cope quite as well.
But y'know, maybe there is something better than mutt these days?
It sure as hell isn't gmail.
