PSA: in Amsterdam - and many other Dutch cities - you can request a "geveltuin" (facade garden) where the city will remove up to 45cm of sidewalk in front of your building, to have a mini-garden to plant things! like climbing roses, wisterias, etc. They even have an little guide for inspo/recommendations on which plants to choose!

I think I'll request mine after I move in :)
