Today is the 40th anniversary of me becoming a Mac user. My friend David and I waited until the day after the hoopla to go buy one and immediately start using it for software development.

Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of the first Macintosh User Group, a meeting in San Francisco. We went, and it was electric. Bill Atkinson gave a demo of MacPaint, and when he said “you can always make it a circle by holding down the Shift key” and drew a filled-in circle, the place went nuts.
