Oofff.. #linux question. I have this 2011 iMac that will only boot to a live usb with "nomodeset"

And I can install linux from it. But then I can't boot into it. And I can't get to the grub menu to add that param.

How can I install linux so it's just on nomodeset, or somehow make the graphics card behave?

It's an iMac 12,2
