Paul Allen on Nostr: ...

Common sense tells you they could make it possible to control your iPhone's camera and mic from your Mac if they really wanted. Unfortunately, that feature only seems to be available if you have a signed permission slip from some dude in a black robe, and enough men with guns to steal Apple's assets for 'non-compliance'.

As far as that goes, I would venture to guess that nobody has more difficulty spying on me than... me.

Feds, tech companies and scammers seem to have unlimited tools at their disposal to snoop on me and my property but if I want to keep an eye on my own stuff, what tools do I have?

An air-tag that may inform an iPhone-toting car thief of its presence, on the off-chance that the owner of both the air-tag and the car might just be a stalker.

A slow-ass Tor network that makes it faster and less stressful to just run home during your lunch break to check on your hardware.

Various wifi-gadgetry that always seem to be offline the moment you need them most.

At this point I've consigned myself to the belief that the only way to get reliable access to my own freaking carport camera is to DoorDash a case of beer to someone at the CIA.

And don't even get me started on these aftermarket automotive backup cameras. More like electronic sun-catchers.
