I was just reading this:
The Earth is orbiting the sun at a distance of about 90 million miles. When the sun runs out of hydrogen in its core, it will begin burning hydrogen in a shell around the core and become very luminous and bloated. The outer layers of the sun will actually reach the Earth and so the oceans will evaporate and our planet will be fried.
Ooh eck, I don't like the sound of that!
