My church has “fasting and offerings”. On the first Sunday of the month, no food or drink for 24 hours. The money not spent on food is offered to charity for those that can’t make ends meet. During fasting it is best to have a purpose (for your own needs or for the needs of someone you know) and pray throughout the fast for that purpose.
