HARRY 3 on Nostr: The Australian Government’s are just as hypocritical in their brazen interpretation ...
The Australian Government’s are just as hypocritical in their brazen interpretation of what shoul, or should not be included in their targets.
Two examples.- 1)
1,000,000 tonnes of Australian coal is exported every day ( 363 m tonnes in 2020-21)
This is a conga line of 4 m full carriages of coal stretching from Melbourne to Perth (4000 km’s ) every single day exporting potentially greenhouse gas emissions to other Countries.
2) The Portland Aluminium smelter in Victoria is believed to consume a whopping 10% of the state’s electricity.
USA aluminium group Alcoa has signed up to a new long term electricity supply contract with AGL energy meaning the energy intensive plant will be at least partly reliant on coal - fired power at least through to the middle of next decade.
A classic case of do what I say - not what I do.
