There cannot be many Roman walls still standing in the British Isles which are larger or more impressive than this one. Richborough, near Sandwich in Kent, was the landing place and main bridgehead for the Claudian invasion of Britain in 43 CE. It remained the principal port of entry to Britannia until the Romans withdrew in the early C5th. It's a lovely piece of stonework.
