The "system" did not make Republicans make the bad choices they have made, nor did Democrats.
Republicans are adults who are freely making those choices. I live in a state solidly controlled by right-wing Republicans. I'm not going to pretend that someone else has made them the semi-literate and cruel people they have chosen to be.
