I just remembered working so hard at OCR on a scanner in the library circa 1993.
I thought it was so cool that you could get some of the text from a printed page into an editable form.
There were a lot of mistakes and fine tuning the scanner settings to minimise these took an age.
Now, 30 years later, we can just select text in images and it 'just works', no fancy software needed, it's just built right into the OS.
This is one advancement in technology I am actually grateful for.
Any more?
