Yes, much of the magnificent architecture in Glasgow was built on profits created by slave labour. These profits flowed very widely. I learned recently that it wasn't just the business owners who prospered. They'd sell shares that were bought by ordinary middle-class people, who funded the slave industry and also shared in its profits. The wealth created by slavery flowed out into the whole of British society. We're all still benefitting from it today.
