I wish I had advice to give. The market is very, very saturated. This is probably the one place AI actually was impactful. It’s increased the throughput of senior devs so junior devs are less necessary and it’s replaced a lot of related tech work done by Indians, thrusting them all into the competitive pool. Shit scene out there for people new to tech.

I haven’t been on the market in a few years. The only advice I would offer, which will sound very boomerish, is to try to meet people face to face as much as possible. Your greatest assets are being a White man that speaks English, which smaller shops not subject to DEI quotas still value. All the jobs I’ve gotten were either from bumping elbows with someone and making their acquaintance, or callbacks from HR people I met irl and chatted with at a career fair.

Edit: Also make sure you use AI to write your resume. It’ll be read by AI first and possibly exclusively. Some others on here have been having some luck with that.
