This is an Old English poem from roughly the 7th century CE which syncretizes the sacrifice of Odin on Yggdrasil with the crucifixion of Christ, told from the perspective of the tree which was cut down to make the cross. Though there's no provable relationship, the symbolism involved is very reminiscent of the modern Xmas tree.
