Upon dissecting the way Iris was parsing the feed I discovered why a lot of social media platforms seem to hide new content. At least Iris seemed to place a lot of importance on how far away from you someone is in the social graph. I don't think that is important for new content at all actually. Feeds should be about relevant information, not whether someone is a friend of a friend. This is probably why TikTok has better content discovery to X. Content needs to be prioritized over author to give anyone a chance to succeed.
