If nostr can become a solid rail for authenticated encryption, with key derivation too, then it could be this era's killer app.
In other words, if ENS is a fundamentally good idea, then nostr does it better because it's truly decentralised, and free.
And if NFTs are a fundamentally good idea, maybe NFTs are just built on a suboptimal platform right now.
Why might nostr be better?
One reason is you'll typically have one (or few) costly ENS records to maintain and renew, but you'll have an infinite number of free and perpetual nostr key pairs.
Formal verifiable key derivation from nostr key pairs would be icing on the cake.
In other words, if ENS is a fundamentally good idea, then nostr does it better because it's truly decentralised, and free.
