i've had this idea for a badass priest-type character inspired by faith: the unholy trinity
thing is, i haven't been tempted to design or define this character because i'm not sure i could design a christian character that honors and respects the original values to the best of my ability
i don't understand how faith leads to power or the ability to overcome what happens next intuitively
it's a similar problem i had with magic, but i have a problem with it philosophically -- if faith alone is enough to spur change, then it would not only be overpowered, but i would be incapable of making an interesting story that would have any conflict
but rather than "not have enough mana" or "not trained in the mystics enough", with something as vague yet very expressible as faith, wherein one's very character is somewhat tied to their level of power...
honestly, it hurts my head. i have no idea how to make that work. it's a badass idea i want to use, but i can't accurately respect it through my art if i can't fathom it.
