It’s hard to be an angel when you’re surrounded by demons.
Sobriety is one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced. Especially when the waves of life get turbulent inside the storm and I feel the need to escape. It seems the depths of addiction are always waiting to call and invite me to jump right back in…again.
At this point in my life I can say I know the sounds of addiction very well. Many times I’ve answered and I’ve fallen down deep…right back into those shadowy realms and right back into the life I swore I’d never return to.
In my personal experience, I’ve found it’s quite easy to be a member of misery because it certainly loves company. It’s even easier to drown the pain but it’s much more difficult to face it with brutal truth and honesty.
However, today marks 61 days inside the light and away from the darkness. I’ve been here before. I’ve accepted my truth and realized day by day the sun always rises.
I am grateful for each new day and for the opportunity to continue to learn and grow. 🙏
