I started using Twitter in 2007. Then stopped using it around 2009. So I never experienced much of the morphing changes, like moderation, blocking, etc. I've always thought of it more like a public marketplace where everyone can just shout whatever they feel like. If you find it bonkers, you just ignore it and jog on.
